July 4th has come and gone. The fireworks have been exhausted and soon the attention of most parents will turn to the start of school. However, in the FileMaker community we are focused on our annual pilgrimage to the FileMaker Developer Conference (DevCon).

This year the entire MightyData crew will descend on the city of San Diego, August 1-5, for the 2011 FileMaker DevCon. We have been preparing since December 2010 when we made the commitment to be an exhibitor. Some of the ways MightyData will be participating at DevCon this year include:

• FileMaker Feud – If you are familiar with the game show, you know the drill. Two teams complete for a grand prize by guessing the most popular answer to survey questions. We are hosting the FileMaker version on Wednesday, August 3, at 2pm. The questions will be about FileMaker layouts, calculations, and scripting. You can help by completing the FMFeud Survey. We only need 20 more people more to reach our goal of 100. Would you like to be a contestant on FileMaker Feud? Complete the FMFeud Audition form. You will be able to complete for fantastic prizes including iTunes gift cards, MightyData coaching, the iPod Touch and the iPad 2.
• Coaches Corner – MightyData is proud to be an exibitor at FileMaker DevCon. Again this year, we will be offering free FileMaker coaching at our booth (number 9). If you have thought about coaching and never tried it, sign-up now for a 30-minute coaching session. We will have 6 coaches available to answer your questions.
• Sessions by Martha Zink – FileMaker Certified Developer and Authorized Trainer, Martha Zink, will be presenting two sessions at FileMaker DevCon. Starting From Scratch: How to Plan Your New Solution is a pre-con session to show you what to do before you ever start to build your database. Ideas for Enhancing Your Existing Solution with the Latest Features is a session on Friday morning to explain how the features in the latest version of FileMaker deliver an immediate ROI.
• Session by Anders Monsen – FileMaker Certified Developer and Authorized Trainer, Anders Monsen, will be presenting one session at FileMaker DevCon. Core Elements of PHP for FileMaker is a pre-con session to introduce the intermediate developer to the fundamentals of PHP for web publishing data in FileMaker databases.
• Meetings with FileMaker Inc. – As a Platinum Member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, MightyData will have the opportunity to visit with the team from FileMaker Inc. to discuss what is happening with the product line and within the community. We look forward to this unique opportunity to visit with FMI and discuss issues important to our customers and our business.
• Sailing in San Diego Bay – A trip to San Diego would not be complete without some R&R. During the trip, the entire MightyData crew will enjoy an afternoon sailing around San Diego Bay. We look forward to spending some time together as a team so we will be ready to hit the ground running when we return on Monday, August 8th.
